The Challenge
Atlantic East Nantucket Real Estate (AENRE) approached us after their website stopped generating leads from new clients. Despite owning the valuable domain of nantucketrealestate.com, AENRE had experienced a sharp decline in organic search visibility due to aggressive SEO tactics from large off-island competitors. Since its last redesign in 2016, the site had become a patched-together backend system, with technical and aesthetic limitations that further reduced the frontend user experience. Pages used outdated static photos, lacked interactive maps, and contained multiple, inconsistent contact form plugins. Additionally, the synced rental feed enforced inflexible 7-night minimums, causing ongoing off-season calendar errors for partial week stays. Website maintenance had also become a significant manual burden.
Our Approach
Before development began, our website and digital marketing teams collaborated on the site architecture to ensure the sitemap and property URLs were optimized for search engines. We then migrated AENRE to a scalable WordPress CMS using the Gutenberg block editor, an intuitive framework for non-developers, to allow the team to independently manage pages. The frontend user interface was refreshed with a contemporary design highlighting AENRE’s connection to Nantucket, and property pages now feature full-screen imagery and interactive maps using Google Maps and Mapbox for better listing searches. To address rental feed errors, we implemented the Barefoot API to map complex rental rules and resolve off-season partial-week availability issues. The result is a site as competitive as the real estate market it serves: fast, findable, and built to convert both buyers and sellers.
