How to Add Gift Wrapping as an Option at Checkout

I Can Offer Gift Wrapping as an Option on My eCommerce Website?

That’s right! If you haven’t already enabled the option to gift wrap, now is a fantastic time to do so. Upon checkout, many eCommerce websites offer the option to include gift wrapping before purchase. This means customers get to choose if they want their product to be wrapped before it’s delivered. For several reasons, this option could be extremely beneficial during the holidays.

Why is Adding a Gift Wrap Option Important?

There is nothing more precious to your customers than time during the holiday season. Between running from store to store to buy gifts, planning Christmas parties, and whatever craziness comes with the end of the year rush at work, there is barely any time to take a breath. By adding the option to gift wrap, you’re saving your customers time and that is everything.

Additionally, not having to wrap another present saves your customer from having to use more wrapping paper and tape, hiding the present from their family before it’s wrapped, and even better, it prevents them from having to go back to the store because they ran out all the previously listed wrapping materials. The hassle-free luxury of including a gift wrap option is reason enough for customers to include it at checkout.

Lastly, and most importantly, the easier you make it for your customers, the more likely they are to purchase from your eCommerce store again. Customers love it when you make their lives easier. By adding the option to gift wrap, that is exactly what you are doing.

  1. Ensure You Have the Personnel to Wrap The Products: Ensure you have the personnel and resources on your end to make it happen. 1. Determine The Gift Wrapping Options You’d Like to Include: Once gift wrapping is enabled on your eCommerce website, you’ll need to determine if you are going to add specific gift wrap options, like boxed, paper wrapped, etc. or if you’re going to keep it simple and only have one option. You also may want to consider adding a message feature. This will allow customers who are sending gifts directly to friends or family to include a message in their delivery.
  1. Is the Price Right?: Lastly, price it right! Gift wrapping shouldn’t be so much that a client wouldn’t even consider adding the expense, but not too little that your business doesn’t profit from the service. Figure out what that sweet spot is and set your pricing accordingly.
