Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating (CRAB) Website Launch

New CRAB homepage on desktop computer

We’re excited to announce the launch of our newest built site for Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating, also known as CRAB. Based in Annapolis, MD, they’re a nonprofit organization that offers adaptive boating programs to individuals with disabilities, as well as to their families, recovering warriors, and children from under served communities. Fun fact: CRAB is the only organization of its kind on the Chesapeake Bay, and programs are offered free of charge to more than 1,200 guests every year during the sailing season.

The goal of their new site was to meet WCAG Success Criteria and provide a more modern, engaging, and streamlined experience for their users. We also made it possible for CRAB’s 100+ volunteers to sign-up to work events based on their volunteer position. All in all, we were successfully able to improve their website’s functionality, design, and compliance with web accessibility criteria.

Hailing originally from Maryland and having spent many fond school trips and summers exploring the Chesapeake, this project was pretty near and dear to me. Our team did a great job getting this site built in time for the grand opening of CRAB’s new Adaptive Boating CenterLauren Nitroy led the charge as the Project Manager for the website, and Adan Breheny was the primary developer building the site out end-to-end.

We couldn’t be more pleased with the results!
