We’re excited to announce the launch of the newly redesigned website for The Converse Home, an assisted living and memory care community located just down the road from us in Burlington, Vermont.
As a local nonprofit with deep roots in the community, The Converse Home shares many of the values we hold close: empowerment, respect, and a commitment to improving people’s lives through thoughtful, human-centered work. This made the project especially meaningful for our team. It was important that we deliver a website that reflects The Converse Home’s mission of making it easier for families to navigate the important decisions involved in finding care.
Founded in 1886, The Converse Home is the oldest assisted living community in Vermont and operates as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) with a volunteer Board of Directors. Located in the South End of Burlington, the community provides both assisted living and memory care services in a setting designed to feel just like home.
Their mission is simple and meaningful: to provide older adults with a gracious home and high-quality services in an environment rooted in dignity, respect, and compassion. As a nonprofit with local leadership, they prioritize connection, flexibility, and a sense of place. There were essential messages they wanted reflected more clearly in their online presence.
When The Converse Home came to us, their goals for a new site were clear:
“Working with The Converse Home on their new website was a rewarding experience. We’re proud to have delivered an inviting, user-friendly website that is easy-to-mange and reflects the care and warm environment they foster for the residents.”
Lauren Nitroy, Senior Project Manager
We approached the project with an emphasis on both performance and empathy, ensuring the site was accessible, easy to manage, and visually aligned with The Converse Home’s values.
1. Built for Their Audience
Most visitors to The Converse Home website aren’t the residents themselves—they’re family members looking for trusted care for a parent or loved one. Our developer, Andrew Allen, focused on that experience: large, welcoming imagery, easily discoverable navigation, and scannable page layouts designed to guide users through the site like they would explore a property listing on a real estate or property rental site.
2. Design that Reflects Their Mission
Working closely with The Converse Home, we selected design elements that reflect the warmth and sense of community their team described:
The messaging was also updated to clearly communicate what they offer as well as what makes them unique.
3. Cross-Team Collaboration
This project was supported by our Digital Marketing team, who worked in parallel to implement on-page SEO best practices and set up tracking ahead of launch. Because The Converse Home is also a digital marketing client, the site is part of a broader strategy to improve visibility and generate more qualified inquiries over time.
4. Empowering the Client Team
The Converse Home shared challenges with limited access to editing and managing their previous site. Their new WordPress site gives their admin team full control, with easy-to-use tools and training to ensure long-term success and flexibility.
We’re grateful to everyone who brought this project to life:
This was a collaborative effort across departments, and it wouldn’t have come together without the trust and partnership of The Converse Home team.
We’re proud to have worked with an organization like The Converse Home that’s so deeply rooted in the Burlington community. Their new website is not only easier to navigate and manage, it is also a reflection of the care, warmth, and respect that define their approach to senior living.
